This map was published by the Japanese newspaper Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shimbun on the eve of the invasion of Singapore. It depicts military resources and infrastructure around Singapore such as airfields, a naval base, gun placements, and offshore minefields. Although not wholly accurate, it conveyed to the Japanese public the idea that Japan was conquering an impregnable fortress.
