Sergeant John Ritchie Johnston was a soldier in the 2/9th Australian Army Field Ambulance. Prior to leaving Australia to fight in the war, his wife gave him this watch, which he brought with him to Changi. Due to a medical condition, he remained in Changi throughout his internment.
