Artist Open Call - Children's Season 2025
Date: Submit by 10 Jan 2025, Fri by 2359hrs
We’re looking for exciting, innovating and children-friendly programmes. If you’re an artist who’s got an idea to bring to life, we’d love to hear from you!
Children's Museum Singapore (CMSG) is delighted to run Children's Season (CS) for the second year. As part of the programming, we will be organising a series of performances at selected Museum Roundtable (MR) museums. These performances will be featured as the Signature Programme of CS2025. Through this open call, we would like to invite you to pitch for a site-specific work for the Signature Programme of up to 2 locations of your choice as listed in Annex A.
As a museum, we aim to be a place of wonder and joyful learning for all children to engage with Singapore and the world. Using Children's Season as a platform, we hope to provide authentic experiences for children that are thoughtfully designed, taking into consideration their views. Hence, the submitted proposals will be shortlisted for a pitch session by a children's panel. The children's panel will select 4 works that they hope to see develop further. The details are as follows.
Selection criteria for the proposal:
- Suitability for young audiences
- Artistic quality and intention
- Clear incorporation of the theme of Children's Season 2025 on "Belonging" and selected content/artefacts/objects as proposed by the selected museum.
- Overall duration of the proposed programme must not be lesser than 1-hour. The programme may consist of several components e.g. 40 mins performance, 20 mins craft.
- Creative use / activation of space(s)
Pitch session on either week of 17 or 24 Feb 2025, weekday afternoon (date and timing to be confirmed):
- Each artist / group will be required to present a 10-min presentation of their proposed idea to the children's panel live.
- The presentation can take the form of a lecture-performance, demonstration, workshop, or any other presentation format that best benefit the proposal.
- The presentation venue will be at a designated primary school to be confirmed.
- Each presentation will be accompanied by a question-and-answer session by the children's panel.
Upon selection, artists will have:
- A project stipend of up to $6,000 (depending on the nature of the work and review of budget submitted).
- Rehearsal space (depending on availability of selected location).
