/ March 21, 2019
You might know it as the location of the Speakers' Corner, but have you ever wondered about the man who gave his name to Hong Lim Park?
Cheang Hong Lim opened Hong Lim Park in 1876 as Singapore's very first public garden. Said to be the leader of a secret society, he was also extremely charitable - making frequent donations to various causes.
Photographs of him were on display at our Amek Gambar special exhibition held at the Peranakan Museum in 2019. Watch on to find out more about his life.
