Community Voices at Peranakan Museum: Gifting from the Heart by the Arab Peranakans

Join us this weekend to explore the Arab Peranakan community’s unique gifting traditions. Community Voices at Peranakan Museum showcases the rich cultures of various Peranakan communities through performances, cooking demonstrations, crafts, and community-led tours of the museum galleries.

About the Arab Network @ Singapore

Witness a unique Arab Peranakan wedding procession on Armenian Street led by matrimonial gift trays known as dulang hantaran and followed by two beautiful wedding couples in traditional and contemporary bridal attire by Ibtiiman Bridal.

The procession will be accompanied by live music and dance by musicians from The Samrah Club (Singapore).

Arabic Attar Perfumery Workshop

Explore the world of Arab fragrances, known as attar, in this workshop. Mr Ali Alhadi from Gifts of Adan will guide you through the evolution of attar, from traditional oil-based ingredients to modern oud-based perfumes. Learn how attar is not just a cosmetic product but also a customary gift at Arab Peranakan religious and cultural events.

This activity is strictly for ages 16 and above.

Immerse yourself in a weekend of Peranakan culture as our communities take over our spaces to present their unique heritage. In this quarterly series of programmes, diverse Peranakan communities will share their knowledge and insights with visitors through performances, cooking, crafts, and community-led tours of our galleries.
