Archives Invites – Karen Hoisington: Personal Correspondences of World War II Heroine, Elizabeth Choy OBE

Join Karen Hoisington as she examines the post-World War II collection of letters and correspondences between Elizabeth Choy, Singapore’s prominent World War II heroine, and the British Royalty. Why did the British Royalty and other world leaders correspond with Elizabeth, a simple teacher, in such a personal manner and what were her responses to them?

Besides the consequential words of powerful personalities as such Winston Churchill and General Tomoyuki Yamashita, the accounts of local war survivors – such as Elizabeth Choy – help to a greater understanding of the Japanese Occupation of Singapore (1942-45).

Free Admission.
