Your Toy's Next Adventure: At the National Museum

Calling all children aged 5 to 12 years old!

Do you have a beloved toy that is special to you? Now's your chance to let it shine in a special museum showcase at our upcoming revamped Growing Up gallery (Level 2) at the National Museum of Singapore!

We’re inviting you to share your favourite toy with us so that it can inspire others, tell its own unique story, and be part of a fun-filled display of childhood memories. Your toy and story might be one of the toys on permanent display to bring joy and spark memories among other children and grown-ups alike. Join us in making this toy collection even more exciting. Donating is easy, and your toy will be forever cherished!

All interested child participants will need to complete and submit this form by Monday, 20 January 2025 (SGT 11:59PM) for the museum's selection. Please see full details below.

Exciting prizes will be awarded to shortlisted participants.

Details about the Campaign

  • The National Museum of Singapore (NMS) is looking for willing donors of toys owned and played by children of all abilities, aged between 5 and 12 years old.
  • Selected toys with the most interesting story and/or memory will be displayed in our revamped Growing Up gallery – a permanent gallery on Level 2 – to invite visitors to compare toys played by children growing up in the 1950s-60s and the present.
  • The toy can be store-bought or hand-made and can include games (e.g. card games) that children play with at present.
  • Due to space limitations, only toys within dimensions of 38cm (length) x 28cm (width) x 38cm (height) will be considered. See image below for reference.Toy dimension
  • Child participants should be willing to donate or loan the toy to the museum for display for a minimum duration of 7 years from the point of handover to NHB.
  • Shortlisted participants will be contacted via email by 30 January 2025.
  • If the toy is selected for display, please note that attendance is compulsory for the play-based engagement workshop on 15 February 2025 (Saturday), 10am - 1pm at the National Museum of Singapore. Please note that the first 10 minutes of the engagement workshop will involve parent's participation with your child. Following that, the workshop is designed for children to participate independently, without parent accompaniment*. We believe that allowing children to engage without parental influence helps preserve their creativity, individuality, and genuine reactions. Rest assured, our experienced facilitators and museum staff will be present to guide and assist them throughout the session, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • For enquiries or clarifications about the campaign, please email us at nhb_nm_programmes@nhb.gov.sg.

*For children with additional needs who require accompaniment by a parent or guardian, exceptions can be made to allow them to attend the workshop with their parent/guardian present.
