General Information For Monument Owners
Under the Preservation of Monuments Act, owners and/or occupiers of a gazetted National Monument have a duty to maintain their properties. To help owners/occupiers understand their role, the Preservation of Sites and Monuments (PSM) division has a General Guide for Owners of National Monuments.
To help owners/occupiers understand the requirements, PSM division prepares and issues unique sets of Preservation Guidelines for each monument, which the owner/occupier can request and should consult before considering engaging in any restoration, enhancement or development work at the Monument. Volume 1 of these guidelines details the history of the monument, while Volume 2 contains measured drawings with annotated guidelines on required details to be retained in future works.
If in any doubt, PSM recommends that monument owners consult with the PSM team before considering and commencing work, via NHB_NationalMonuments@nhb.gov.sg.
