NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE HERITAGE SECTOR IN 2013

Free admission for National Museums and Heritage Institutions

Free admission will be provided to Citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) all year round to the permanent galleries displaying our national collection and selected special exhibitions at the National Museums and Heritage Institutions, to encourage more citizens and PRs to visit our National Museums and Heritage Institutions. Through free admission, NHB hopes to give Citizens and PRs greater access to our National Museums and Heritage Institutions to enjoy their offerings. For special exhibitions where there is an admission fee, NHB will continue to offer free admission for citizens and PRs who are students, teachers, senior citizens and NSFs as well as children of 6 years of age and under.

Free admission will be officially launched on 18 May 2013, in conjunction with NHB’s Children’s Season 2013, as well as International Museum Day, in the following National Museums and Heritage Institutions:

National Museums

  1. Singapore Art Museum
  2. National Museum of Singapore
  3. Asian Civilisations Museum
  4. The Peranakan Museum
  5. Singapore Philatelic Museum
  6. National Gallery Singapore

Heritage Institutions

  1. Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall
  2. Malay Heritage Centre
  3. Indian Heritage Centre

Interpretative Centre

  1. Reflections at Bukit Chandu

We are pleased to also announce that the following Singapore museums will be joining us in this free admission initiative.

  1. Army Museum of Singapore
  2. Memories at Old Ford Factory
  3. Singapore Discovery Centre

Special Exhibitions

Free admission to the National Museums will be granted to as many special exhibitions as possible alongside free admission to the permanent galleries. However, from time to time, our museums bring in internationally renowned works and exhibitions from overseas. Entry charges may then be charged to help cover costs and ensure sustainability. For such exhibitions where there is an admission fee, NHB will continue to offer free admission for citizens and PRs who are students, teachers, senior citizens and NSFs as well as children of 6 years of age and under.
