What's On for Primary Schools

At ACM, we help students unpack the narratives behind objects through inquiry-based approaches and discussions. Curriculum-based programmes and other opportunities to discover Asian art are available for primary level students.

GUIDED TOURS 

Storytelling Tour: Fantastic Creatures

Museum guide on a storytelling tour with primary school students 

Ignite the imagination of your students through this interactive tour that uses active looking to explore different mythical creatures in the galleries. These tours led by our volunteer docents offer fascinating journeys through Asian cultures and myths.

Suitable for: Primary 1 and 2
Day(s): Mondays to Fridays
Guided tour: Approx. 60 minutes
Participants per session: max 40 pax

 

Storytelling Tour: Heroes of Asia

Students will learn valuable life lessons through these stories focusing on figures in Asian mythology and the many craftspeople who created art that has lasted till today. These tours led by our volunteer docents will encourage students to look closely at objects and are designed to pique their interest in ACM’s collection.

Let’s Look at Asian Art

Primary 6 Museum-based Learning: Asian Adventures

What was life in Southeast Asia like in the past? Students will be guided by this question as they journey with a mythical makara to discover stories about objects in ACM. This programme is aligned with the Primary 6 Character and Citizenship Education and Social Studies syllabi, and jointly designed with MOE. Travel to different time periods in Southeast Asia to explore what trade was like and learn about ways of life in the region.

Our self-guided options allow teachers to use ACM’s curated resources, as well as their own resources, for object-based learning within the galleries.

Meet Me at ACM! Activity Cards

Download Download activity cards that you can use with your students in the galleries. These cards are for ages 5 to 8 encourage independent learning and research. Detailed information about each object is provided, and accompanying questions and activities promote higher-order thinking skills through art-making.

Cards for 2 age groups (5 to 8 and 9 to 12) are available for download.

Arts of Indonesia educational videos

Experience a story about friendship and adventure through ACM’s first book for children! Learn more about Asian mythical creatures as you read this story together before exploring the galleries with your students.
