Journey through time along the iconic Singapore River for this year’s Singapore HeritageFest. Hop on a bumboat or embark on walking tours to witness the transformation of the river and its surroundings. Catch interactive storytelling sessions and performances to experience the sights and sounds of the river during its heyday.
Free ACM Green
Immerse yourself in Yip Yew Chong’s nostalgic paintings as bumboats float on the ACM Green, against the backdrop of the river and Singapore’s skyline. Step back in time to see what the bumboats carried during the river’s heyday and snap some pics amid this hand-painted fleet of boats.

Enjoy a 40min boat ride and soak in the sights and sounds of the Singapore River as local storyteller Hafiz Rashid shares tales from the past. This unique storytelling session is conducted on board a Singapore River bumboat.
Suitable for ages 5 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Join local author Tina Sim on a leisurely walking tour along the banks of the Singapore River. Participants will be transported back in time to learn about how the river functioned as a port, meet key people who worked on the river and by its banks, and reflect on the role the river played in Singapore’s development as a nation.

Sail the seas and brave storms with Sang Nila Utama in this fun and interactive drama performance. Embark on an adventure as Sang narrates the tale of his journey on a ship from the island of Bintan to Singapore.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the busy Singapore River in its heyday. Learn about the bumboats that carried cargo down the river, make your own origami version, and re-imagine the Singapore river by drawing it out. The session will be jointly conducted by Tina Sim and Alan Bay, author, and illustrator for Once Upon a Singapore – Traders and Our Singapore River, Time Travel, Singapore!

Do you know the stories of the pioneers behind Eu Chin Street, Seng Poh Lane, and Seah Street?
Join author and speaker Shawn Seah as he uncovers lesser-known stories of the amazing pioneers who are immortalised in Singapore’s street names, such as Eu Chin Street, Liang Seah Street, and Seng Poh Lane. Shawn will also explore the pioneers connected to the Aljunied and Bendemeer MRT stations.
Suitable for ages 6 to 12.
