Museum-based Learning Programme: Artefactually Speaking at the National Museum

Secondary 2 CCE Cohort Learning Journey

In this artefact-centric programme, co-developed with the Ministry of Education, students will explore the National Museum's galleries in independent groups while guided by a Passport activity booklet. They will also get to discover fascinating stories about specific artefacts from Singapore’s 700 years of history as they interact with our Museum Educators.

Please note that this programme is only for Secondary 2 students from MOE schools, as part of their CCE Cohort Learning Journey.

*Each student will receive a Passport activity booklet. Pre- and post-trip resources will also be provided for teachers to brief their students and to facilitate post-trip discussions.

Historical Investigation

Conduct a Historical Investigation at the National Museum and re-encounter Singapore's history from the pre-colonial to post-independence years. The museum's vast collection of artefacts and immersive settings make history come alive with the voices of the past, giving students a glimpse of what life in Singapore used to be as they conduct their investigations.

Docent-Led Tour of Singapore History Gallery for Schools

Singapore History Gallery

Let our experienced docents enthral your students with stories about Singapore’s past as they lead them on a journey through time in this guided tour of the Singapore History Gallery.

Guidelines for Docent-Led Tours

Due to limitations in the number of docents and capacity for tours, we recommend that large school groups come for self-guided visits instead.

Tours are approximately an hour long and conducted in English, Mandarin or Japanese only. They are available only for the Singapore History Gallery and do not apply to other galleries in the museum, unless otherwise stated.
